Vikings - Porunn's hairstyle

Today I done one hair style inspired by Porunn's hair style

Gaia Weiss stars as Porunn new character on Tv show "Vikings"

Porunn was a former slave girl turned shield-maiden in Kattegat and when she became free woman she married Bjorn.

Here is video of this hair style

I couldn't shave the hair at one side of the head ( the head block was not mine ) so I done cornrow hair style on the right side of the head and on the top

The result is quit similar to Porunn's hair style , Next time I will do more narrow sections

Here you can find more inspiration for cornrow hair styles

In my case my college offer me place and I can enrol for L3 VRQ Diploma in Women's Hairdressing SGL3FD006D

but I found some interesting information about this course

I asked my tutor what are the differences between NVQ and VRQ but she told me that one is just part time and the other is just full time
and I am wonder now that I prefer to do full time course not part time course

I don't want to do VRQ  ... I don't understand much from college website, from link above I understood that VRQ will not prepare you to work as much as the NVQ course so does anyone knows which course is better  ??
Should I do NVQ or VRQ ?
Thank you for checking my post

Update 24 July 2015

I called to college and lady there explained to me that NVQ is for people who already work as a hairdresser and they can study and work in the salon
VRQ is for people who don't work in hairdressing industry this course is for people who would like to get education in the college and get work placement later

usuful link
http://www.differencebetween.net/miscellaneous/career-education/difference-between-vrq-and-nvq/

So I understand that I have just one choice now and can do just VRQ
I can't do NVQ because I don't work in the salon

Eczema Psoriasis Dry skin Dry scalp

Eczema Psoriasis Dry skin Dry scalp

I would like to talk about my treatment for oily hair
I have oily hair but dry scalp after taking a shower.
I got itchy scalp and I tried to use different shampoos but  nothing was helping me
I used shampoo for oily or greasy hair but the shampoos were too strong , I think...

Recently I got good advice from my hairdresser friend and bought alberto balsam green apple shampoo

My friend told me that the scalp will dry out fast if I use shampoo for oily hair like head and shoulder for dandruff and similar
She informed me that I should have shampoo which one will softer my scalp and help me clean oil from hair
I bought the shampoo which one she recommended to me and definitely I notice some improvement

Recently I bought E45 dry scalp shampoo as well and I am using this two shampoos at this moment.
I still had dandruff and the scalp was still a little bit itchy so I had to buy something else.. ( actually I stop using E45 )

so I bought Oilatum cream for eczema and dry skin I bought cream not shampoo

This cream is absolutely marvelous ........

Now I take normal shower and use green apple shampoo and apply conditioner on my hair I will rinse my hair and after that,
I will apply Oilatum  cream on my still damp scalp, not on the hair and leave it on my scalp and not rinse it.

This is great product and I highly recommend it for people who got dandruff and itchy scalp

( People with flaky dandruff itchy scalp need some moisturising cream and this cream :
  • moisturises ,
  • soothes,
  • softens and
  • rehydrates
the skin or scalp)

So don't be afraid  to use fatty cream or oils on your scalp even if you got oily hair
You need a good product to keep the moisture on your scalp
some shampoos are too harsh and can dry your scalp you need something to keep balance
Your hair will not be greasy again the product will stay few hrs only and you have to repeat applying it to your scalp few times per day

Stop scratching your scalp , scratching irritates the skin further

Thank you for checking my post

Update 24 June 2015

I found really good product to help keep my skin less itchy

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/151141342456?clk_rvr_id=855521522070&item=151141342456&lgeo=1&vectorid=229508&rmvSB=true

It is for dry skin condition with Zinc and Magnesium which are great stuff and they will help heal the scalp even faster

Update 10.11.2015
My husband bought Great conditioner and I have to say, I love it so much.

The conditioner is For dry skin and is From Head & Shoulders company
"Dry Scalp Care " conditioner/ balsam

Anyone who has a problem With dry Scalp should try it . I recommend this product to anyone with dry Scalp.

Update 7 January 2016
I am probably, unlucky person.
My scalp is still dry but not itchy anymore

Few months ago my doctor gave me a medication for my dry scalp but it didn't work for me.
nothing was really helping me to stop having dry scalp

Just recently I bought Purifying shampoo from SUKIN

and I have to say that my scalp get better and nothing is itchy me anymore but.... the scalp is still very dry and I have one conclusion -

- maybe my water is alkaline and harsh  for my scalp  ! or I had product build up and the  Purifying shampoo was a good choice, my scalp stop itchy me ...

I bought as well

Pashana American Bay Rum

oh, it smells so nice and the aromatic oils stay so long on the scalp
I just love this product

I will have a goal and see how my scalp will react to this product
( I know the alcohol probably will dry it more but I would like to see if my scalp will benefit from the Essences of Clove, Bay oil, and Patchouli

I never had  dry scalp before in my life just when I moved to Bournemouth my problem starts
One of my friends told me that her face  skin  become very dry  too so it has to be the water ???

Any other ideas ?

My doctor gave me new medications and they don't work ...  do you know maybe how to get a healthy scalp and get rid of dandruff ?

9 January 20116

I just love Pashana Bay Rum on my scalp and hair
Highly recommend this product

(I am not getting any money from companies mention above  for advertising they products to you)

Update 28.01.2016

My itchy skin is gone now
I am using only purifying shampoo and apple shampoo together and the problem is gone now

.....

So I would like to recommend this two shampoos for anyone who has itchy scalp
:):)

Update 19 February 2016

I forgot to mention about

Evening Primrose Oil

This oil can help you with  atopic dermatitis or other skin condition (rash, itching, blisters)
This oil is a great source of vitamin E

Just remember that too much consumption of this vitamins can cause hypervitaminosis E and vitamin K deficiency and consequently of bleeding problems. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_E)

I had at home this oil and I just used it few times on my scalp
It definitely works for me with my rash and itchy scalp.

Update 12 April 2016

Conclusion :

-Apple Shampoo
-Purifying Shampoo
- Head & Shoulders company
"Dry Scalp Care " conditioner/ balsam
-Cuticura Talcum Powder

Those three products are the only products at this moment that I use on my scalp and help to keep my scalp nice and normal :)

Update 22 April 2016
The sea salt or pink salt is a great remedy for itchy scalp too - is a great source of magnesium and potassium. :)

Update 15 September 2016

Yes this is my fresh post I was so happy for a while and recently I had itchy scalp again so I scratched the skin and this time I though to ge new product and test it on myself
More information about the product I got now you can find here   It is great product and I highly recommend it to anyone who got skin problems similar to mine

Work Placement in Hairdressing Salon

 Work Placement in Hairdressing Salon

As a student of hairdressing you have to do work experience in any salon of your choice
Finding the salon is not easy at all
To get to the best salon in the city can be tough
The Toni & Guy are accepting only their own students and they not accepting people from other colleges anyway this is what I heard
" Toni & Guy offer apprentices NVQ training to levels 2 and 3 "
 http://toniandguy.com/fashion-week

Scissors  Hair Salon is very helpful chain of hairdressing salons and many of my friends done their work experience there.
 http://www.scissors.co.uk/

Apparently Scissors can be very busy salon so staff there will not give you much of their time

I found great place to do my work experience in Baker  St Hair & Beauty
http://bakersthairandbeauty.co.uk/

The Manager in my salon was great very nice and kind and let me do some hair styles and help me to perfect the updo hair style

So I learn a lot and received many good advice from the staff :)

In my case the college send all paper work to my salon and they have to just sign it and send it back to college

Update 09.02.2016
This year I done my work placement in this same salon as last year in Baker St. Salon
